Branden Bell

Branden Bell is a fighter—a wartime consigliere who understands the criminal justice system from both sides. As a teenager, he was arrested for a crime he didn’t commit. When prosecutors offered a plea deal, he refused and demanded his day in court. The judge dismissed the case. That moment changed everything, setting him on a path that would define his career and his approach to defending others.

For over two decades, Branden has brought that same tenacity to federal courtrooms, representing individuals and businesses facing complex prosecutions. His meticulous attention to detail, ability to synthesize thousands of facts, and commanding courtroom presence have produced numerous not-guilty verdicts—even in cases involving weeks of testimony, dozens of witnesses, and hundreds of exhibits.

Before founding The Bell Firm, Branden honed his skills in private practice and as a federal public defender. In that role, he took on prosecutorial misconduct head-on, cross-examining multiple prosecutors in United States v. Black and holding them accountable. His work has been featured in the Federal Sentencing Reporter, and he’s a sought-after speaker at continuing legal education seminars, where he shares his trial strategies with fellow attorneys. He holds an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer-review recognition available.

Outside the courtroom, Branden is a devoted father to two sons and a passionate Kansas City sports fan—you’ll find him cheering for the Jayhawks or catching Royals games whenever he can.
