Federal Drug Charges
Being charged with a federal drug crime is frightening in a way that state charges often aren’t. The sentences are longer, the mandatory minimums are real, and the system moves whether you’re ready or not. We defend individuals charged with federal drug offenses, from possession and distribution to conspiracy, trafficking, and continuing-criminal-enterprise charges, in federal courts across Kansas. Our first job is to explain to our clients how things got to this point, and what happens next.
We begin by examining how the case was built: the traffic stop, the search, the wiretap, the informant. Because a single constitutional problem can hurt the government’s entire case. In conspiracy cases, we look closely at the role our client played compared to what the government alleges. We scrutinize how much drug quantity is provable, whether safety-valve relief applies, and whether a reduced role in the offense should lower the guideline range.
Federal drug cases can have severe penalties. But the outcome isn’t decided the day someone is charged. We will find the best possible result for our clients, either through a plea or by trial, to get them home as quickly as we can.
